The FAA is giving air traffic controllers an extra hour of sleep between shirts. They are hoping that this will cut down on the amount of controllers that doze off. There has been multiple cases just recently of planes emergency landing or coming in on the wrong run way because of contollers dozing off.

I personally do not think this one extra hour will make a difference. If they really want to make a difference, they should take shifts and hire more traffic controllers. Shorter shifts will help on the dozing off and also cut back on the accidents and emergency landings.

  1. I agree with Jack. They need to hire more people and with the unemploymn rate so high this might not be a bad idea anyway. An extra hour won't make a difference.
